Carbon Management
In order to meet the challenging target set out in the 2008 Climate Change Act of an 80% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 carbon management in industry is crucial. It will be important for carbon emission reduction to become an economically viable and environmentally friendly option for energy intensive industries by improving energy efficiency and utilising carbon as a resource.
In this theme there will be particular focus on supporting industries to reduce their carbon footprint whilst still remaining economically viable which will help UK plc to meet this goal and may open up new opportunities for cross sector collaboration and the development of innovative technologies leading to export potential. The carbon management theme includes a number of key topics including;
- CO2 capture,
- CO2 transportation,
- CO2 storage,
- CO2 utilisation,
- CO2 monitoring and measurement
- Innovative energy efficiency measures.
