Canadian Funding Sources for Aeronautics

The process for Canadian businesses and universities obtaining funding to enable their participation in FP7 Aeronautics programmes is complex and often unclear.

The National Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) has compiled slides that demonstrate where the optimum sources of funding lie as technology becomes increasingly mature and progresses downstream.

The first slide shows this progression through Technology Readiness Levels, from the research of innovative ideas, through to inserting products into market; and how the injection of funding changes according to the TRLs and the inherent risk levels that accompany them.

The second slide shows the different strategies for funding Canadian activity on FP7 programmes, depending on the level of activity or collaboration with others on the programme.
