Braintree Ltd is a British company specialising in intelligent software solutions for large organisations and multi-nationals. It has specific expertise in merging disparate databases and the application of Machine Learning to massive datasets, particularly graph-structured data containing many interdependent relationships. Braintree is a research-led company, with Prof Peter Bentley (UCL) as Chief Technology Officer leading a dedicated team of Postdoc and PhD researchers in-house, in order to create new machine learning and optimisation algorithms. Braintree inherits the IP and know-how from a previous Russian company which was created in 2002 by founder Nikolay Gurianov and which achieved significant success over more than a decade in many industries, including oil, media, and rail. Today Braintree is rapidly growing, having current contracts with Arcelor Mittal (one of the world’s largest steel manufacturers), Sportmaster (one of the world’s biggest sports retailers), MedLab Media Group (an organisation dedicated to providing innovative healthcare solutions to Asia and Latin America), and recently achieving I-UK funding for the GAMMA research project in collaboration with UCL. Braintree is based on Gower Street next to UCL and maintains close ties with the university, providing both employment and student sponsorship for the best graduates from the Computer Science Department.
