Opportunities for Addressing Unmet Clinical Needs in Major Trauma and Emergency Care – Developing NHS / Industry Collaboration

On the 23 January 2013 the HealthTech and Medicines KTN (HTM KTN) in collaboration with the National Institute for Health Research Clinical Research Network (NIHR CRN) and the Electronics, Sensors, Photonics KTN (ESP KTN) are holding a Clinician and Industry workshop at the BIS Conference Centre, 1 Victoria Street, London. This will provide opportunities to hear from leading UK clinicians who will be presenting on a variety of unmet needs, including those associated with trauma bleeding, patient monitoring and information presentation and near patient testing in trauma and emergency care. There will also be presentations from the NIHR CRN who will describe the services and support they offer to both Clinicians and the life sciences industry.

 

 

This event will be of interest to a range of healthcare, Pharma and medical technology companies who are involved in the development of diagnostic and therapeutic devices for trauma and emergency medicine, as well as companies involved in developing imaging tools and devices for diagnosis and treatment of emergency medicine related diseases.

 

 

The morning session will include presentations from Professor Mehdi Tavakoli (Technical Director, HTM KTN), Dr Jonathan Gower (Assistant Director, NIHR CCRN), Jayne Shippin (Industry Operations Manager, NIHR CCRN) and Professor Tim Coates (Professor of Emergency Medicine, University of Leicester). The afternoon session will consist of three parallel running workshops on unmet needs in:

·         Major trauma bleeding – assessment and intervention

·         Patient monitoring and information presentation

·         Near patient testing in trauma and emergency care respectively
