Study tour to the USA

8 -13 March 2015

Submission deadline: Thursday 8th January 2015

The UK Science & Innovation Network (USIN), Los Angeles, Algal Bioenergy Special Interest Group (ABSIG) and PHYCONET invite applications from academics and SMEs to participate in a study tour to the USA*. Large companies can participate if self-funded.

If you work in the area of biofuels or high value chemicals from microalgae and interested in developing collaborations in the USA, apply now to participate in a series of strategic activities.

USIN will kindly cover the costs of flights, hotels & sustenance for participants, therefore a limited number of places are available. Applications will be assessed and successful applicants notified in January 2015.

Sunday 8 March

Arrive in Phoenix

Monday 9 March

Visit and meetings with ATP3 Partnership at Arizona State University

Tuesday10 March

AM: Meetings with ASU and/or local companies

PM: Travel to San Diego

Wednesday 11 March

Visit and meetings with UCSD focused on building UK/US research links

Thursday-Friday 12-13 March

Food & Fuel for the 21st Century Annual Symposium, UC San Diego

Friday 13 evening

Travel to UK

Terms and conditions

  • Applicants must be based in the UK
  • Applicants must be able to commit to the full timetable
  • Applicants must be actively involved in microalgae R&D
  • Applicants must either be a SME or post-doc, PI and/or senior researcher
  • Applicants are responsible for booking their own flights to and from the UK. Further itinerary details will be available upon successful application. All flights must be economy and will only be reimbursed upon submission of receipt.
  • The organisation committee will arrange hotel bookings
