Are you an early stage algae company? NERC will support one award to the most promising company utilising algae as a means of addressing current challenges facing humans: sustainable fuels, food security, clean water, reducing pollution, human health and sustainable sources for personal care products.
The brand new IBLF awards are issuing a challenge to all early stage or even pre-revenue UK-based SMEs and spin outs to pitch their best ideas to an influential panel of industry experts.
The Knowledge Transfer Network is running this new business competition with the aim of supporting early stage businesses working on technologies or processes utilising renewable and sustainable methods.
Apply now to win a £10k voucher plus a complimentary £300 ticket to the Industrial Biotechnology Showcase where you could pitch your idea in our Dragons’ Den style “IB Den” on12th February 2015 in London.
About the competition
The prize is a £10K voucher to enable you to gain access to a business support mechanism to help springboard your business. The sort of businesses sponsoring the IBLF Awards and whose services you can request fall into these categories:
Choose the service you need, then apply to the competition. If you are unsure which service to pick, that’s OK, you can choose later.
Keep track of our award sponsors here as the list will grow as we get nearer to February. Follow developments via @IBLF_UK #IB15 and on the IBSIG where you can also find out more about the IBLF.
How to apply
The competition is a two-stage process:
Two minute video pitch
Deadline for applications is 28th November 2014. Tell us what you do, what the business aims to do in the future and why you need the £10k voucher. If you know what intervention you need (e.g. I need this voucher to create a stunning and informative website to enable me to attract customers), then tell us but if you would like to seek advice before committing, then that’s OK. Submit your video here
Five minute oral pitch
We will let you know if your video pitch has been successful in January 2015 and will invite you to the second stage: Oral pitch in The IB Den on 12th February 2015 at QEII Conference Centre London as part of the IBLF’s Industrial Biotechnology Showcase (11-12th February 2015). You will pitch to our panel of assessors, watched by the conference delegation.
The IBLF Award Ceremony & the IB Showcase
The IB Showcase is a major event aimed at bringing together industry, academia and government agencies working towards a bio-based economy. The first Showcase event attracted almost 300 delegates.
The IBLF Awards will be presented from 3.30pm on 12th February 2015 at the end of the conference by, a soon to be confirmed, Government Minister.
