Explore the potential and challenges of seaweed cultivation, 16-18 May, Oban

The 2016 GlobalSeaweed Workshop will take place on 16-18 May 2016 at SAMS, Oban, Scotland

Attendance on this course is limited to 20 participants so book early!  Places will be allocated on a first-come, first served basis.

This second summerschool to be run by the GlobalSeaweed Network will explore the potential and challenges of seaweed cultivation.

This three day workshop will blend lectures by experts, interactive round tables, field and laboratory sessions. By illustrating disease management and biosecurity challenges in established aquaculture industries, and with the support of specialists in the field (Salmon, Oyster, Shrimp), this second edition will also highlight the lessons learnt from historic aquaculture sectors and provide a policy roadmap for sustainable development of the seaweed Industry.

Day 1 - Maximizing the benefit of seaweed cultivation by addressing ecological challenges

Day 2 - Seaweed Diseases – Deciphering algal-pathogenic interactions – Future directions of seaweed breeding

Day 3 - Learning Lessons from established industries for the future of seaweed aquaculture
