The Industrial Biotechnology Showcase is a major business conference aimed at bringing together industry, academia and government organisations working towards a bioeconomy. The first conference attracted 300 delegates.
Call for abstracts
We currently have a call for abstracts from businesses or academia for 10 minute presentations in the following themes:
Feedstocks (whether supply or technology innovation to add value to or optimise)
o Algae culturing and supply
o Co-products from food and drink processing, including marine
o Plant breeding & selection for chemicals or fuels
o Microorganisms – supply, synthetic biology
o Enzymatic transformation of feedstocks
Bioprocessing, formulation & omics
o Upstream bioreactor technology
o Product formulation and development
o Analytical technology
Supply & markets
o Licensed technology
o End-user formulation & development
o Product pitches

About the conference
We have a main programme with presentations from: GSK; Lucite Ltd; Chemoxy International Ltd; Alkymar AS; Calysta Energy Ltd; Seagarden AS, Cellucomp Ltd; ValueForm Ltd; Oxford Biotrans, plus a dedicated session showcasing the BBSRC NIBB’s. In parallel we are running a Technology Showcase aimed at bringing together the value chains from feedstocks to markets. Biobase NWE is running a workshop aimed at highlighting the pilot facilities in this region as well as tackling the issues relating to scaling up processes. Our exhibition hall is where you can meet with the key players that can help you access the resources you need to innovate. Current exhibitors include: Bioprocess Facility; CPI; BEACON; ARD; Biobase Europe, Ghent; Edinburgh University; Sheffield University; BBSRC; KTN; Chemical Sciences Scotland; Industrial Biotechnology Network Norway.
The Soap Box Cafe is where you can have your business meetings; enjoy a coffee sample from a biobased coffee pod courtesy of Biome Bioplastics or an orange juice from the BDC, or listen to the technology pitches.
The IB Den is our Dragon’s Den-style session where our finalists of the IBLF Awards Business Competition will pitch to win a £10k voucher: come along and cast your vote.
