We are delighted to hear that one of our Algal Bioenergy SIG members, Industrial Phycology, is one of five companies shortlisted for a people’s choice award for the UKTI backed Clean and Cool Mission.
Their description on the Clean and Cool Mission website says:
"Industrial Phycology (I-PHYC) is an award winning company that has developed a solution to a global challenge. Every year, vast volumes of waste waters are discharged into the environment. Despite the vast amounts of energy used for treatment, these effluents contain materials that cause environmental degradation. Additionally many of these materials are important resources of finite global supply.
"I-PHYC’s process allows algae to be used properly at industrial scales as an effluent treatment and material recovery process. It produces cleaner effluents for discharge and algal biomass (including recovered materials),which can be used for sustainable processes, turning waste into resource."
